Visit the glacier lagoon on the south coast, the deepest lake in iceland with 280 meters deep. Large chunks of ice from Europe's largest glacier fall into the lake and can be found floating around the lake. There is a boat that offers trips around the lake for a fee. Vatnajökull (pronounced vat'najö'küdll) is the largest ice mass in Iceland. It is situated in the southeast area of the island, covering more than 8% of the country. With its 8,100 km², it is the second largest ice mountain in Europe in terms of area is the largest in terms of volume. The thickness of the ice can reach 1000 meters
